The best and really only sensible thing to say about the dire romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day,” which is neither romantic nor remotely comedic, is that it makes you appreciate and long for the breeziness, acting and basic competency — the decent lighting, focused cameras and choreographed action — of “Love Actually,” the ingratiating British movie it transparently and ineptly rips off.

“decent lighting”?!
love actually was lit like a goddamn jewelry commercial. and wtf was up with all the f2.8 dof crap they used? H8’d watching that movie.

#MinneapolisGreatestHits part II. If I actually pursued this (I won’t) what songs should be included besides the ones by 12 Rods, Atmosphere, Low, Lifter Puller, Babes In Toyland, The Jayhawks, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Semisonic, and Soul Asylum? Does Prince count? There was a Walt Mink track I used to really love, but since the great hard drive crash of ‘08 I’ve had to work with just my memory and it does not compare.
On a somewhat related note, I stopped following mp3 blogs between 2005 and 2008 and only follow a couple now. In 2006, Minneapolis based Music For Robots was one of the biggest and best around but now they barely update, anyone know what happened? On a related note to that related note, what happened to Lemon Red? I feel like maybe one to two people will know what I’m talking about.
need some ideas? how about the replacements, the suicide commandos, the suburbs, the cows, the andrews sisters, you could almost include a shellac song (todd trainer lives in minneapolis), get semisonic THE FUCK off that list and don’t even think about including marcy playground), the time, the jets, run westy run, rifle sport, halo of flies, dillenger four, and you could also almost include something by judy garland (cuz she was born in minnesota).
hope that helps!
KG, I don’t want you to be sad. Here, look at these throwing cards. The ends are made of metal, so when you throw them at someone you can cut their throat open. After they are dead you can play solitaire in the peace and quiet. I think this is a good way to kill off your roommate. When you are in court they will have to say you killed someone with a deck of cards. That’s sort of cool, in my opinion.
some smartass decided to stylize a ring circuit schematic, thereby rendering it impossible to decipher in one glance (without getting hit with vertigo).

” My friend Corey Rusk, who runs Touch & Go Records (and formerly of The Necros), has been cleaning out his storage space and has realized that he really doesn’t have any more room for the all doubles and triples of many of the rare records in his collection. He’s busy running Touch and Go and doesn’t have the time to deal with selling his extras… but they do need to go. So he asked me to help him sell them off.”
The little man on my shoulder with the horns is yelling at me for doing this, but Touch and Go overlord Corey Rusk is a king among men, and deserves nothing but the highest bids and the fiercest eBay wars (and I have already gotten the ones I really want and should really stop spending all my money on this). Fans of Texas superlabel Trance Syndicate will find particularly excellent treasures.
Oh my God.
oh my god is right. there goes all my monies.
