Battery Charges

falconieri:

AppleInsider:  300 charges typical,

Does this mean the battery will last you under one year?  I have never seen Apple post something like that.

that’s standard for lithium ion and lithium polymer cells. it refers to full cycles.

for comparison:

nickel metal hydride: 1000 cycles

nickel cadmium: 1800+ cycles

and don’t leave your machine plugged in all the time. when lithium-based cells are kept at a state of high charge for extended periods of time the lithium material tends to solidify (turn into metal) on the cathode, thereby removing usable chemistry and reducing the cell’s capacity and lifespan.

here's yr damn note, nik. because i'm awesome like that.
