hey montana nutjobs, i’m taking a vacation in october, last two weeks-ish.
looks like i’ll take a train out to minneapolis, then drive with my brother out there in his new (to him) V6 manual mazda 6, then survival/time-hike east to west across glacier national park starting from saint mary and crossing the divide around the gunsight pass and following sprague to lincoln creek to west glacier (sixty-some miles in three days at three mph. packing in: a tent, sleeping bags, rain gear, extra socks, coffee for the morning (it’s good for the constitution), bison jerky (there’s huckleberries and wild onion to munch on along the way), bear mace, layers, my old man’s 12 ga. mossberg 500 w/ a new pistolgrip and shorty turkey barrel, and some chew…because i don’t want to pack out cigarette butts). then returning to whitefish, knock in a round on the links, followed by getting hammered with ye old friends and family at the great northern bar and grill. after that, a day or two of kicking back and experiencing just why it’s called big sky country. maybe we’ll hike the ridge and fish link lake, but i bet we’ll be wiped out after bagging peaks in glacier (by peaks i mean bighorn. a man gets lonely sometimes, ya know?).
i’ll see you scruffy, neck-bearded, moose-drool drinkin’, wolf-tit sucklers soon.
