there is a sidenote to be included with this song. as i type and as you read, there is a record of gold etched and hurtling at 38,000 miles per hour bolted to the side of a one-ton craft which is now reaching the terminal end of our solar system and soon will escape into the vast and empty darkness of space. already our sun looks as much like any other star found in the night from that perspective, and our star’s solar winds are nearly imperceptible and will soon cease as it passes throughout the heliopause. in thirteen years the craft will cease to function at all.
and with binary clocking intructions on playback speed etched into the plate relating to another etching depicting the two lowest electron spin-states as time differential in the most basic of all atoms: hydrogen (one proton, one neutron), something somewhere might also hear this song. wordless and over seventy years old for us already…it resonates beyond time itself.
