as per the last post, my dad once ripped the wings off a cessna 150.

seldom do people walk away from an airplane crash. let alone those that occur in a small, single-engine aircraft that weighs about 1/3 of a toyota corolla.

pops was having his biennial (that word means it happens every two years) review and the carb iced up (it’s not like cessna will ever do anything about the fact that their planes do that with regularity. to do so would be an admission of improper engineering and open them up to layers of lawsuits stretching back decades) and they crashed through a split-rail fence and lived. we had a sweatshirt made up for him with a picture of the aircraft all wingless and tail-deep in the surrounding wooded forest. i’m pretty sure he credits his beard for assuaging injury.
