it would be completely impossible to try to explain the redneck glory involved with my trip to the ranch. i wore camo for the first time, learned (kind of) how to shoot a gun, jumped off cliffs, battled thorn trees and fire ants, gazed at sunsets, leaves, and the moon, heard deer and armadillos make very weird noises, and most importantly met will, who is incredibly kind and makes delicious burritos (both of the breakfast variety and regular), and mills, who is very good at rock game, teaching river dynamics, helping one through swift currents and barbed wire fences and pretty much my favorite person now.

ah yes, the marlin model 60 tubular magazine .22 rifle. twas my first firearm (i’d recognize that cut-out and brass sleeve anywhere), my brother and i got one each when we were just little guys. when it comes to plinking and varmint-shootin’, this is the go-to gun of choice. semi-automatic so you can pounce off 18 rounds at a badger as fast as you can pull the trigger, and light enough with so little recoil that you can trace a raccoon off the deck and up a tree before it alights upon even the lowest branch. and with 500 round bricks going for about $25.00US, that’s less than a dollar per fully loaded mag.
also: this is hopefully the only time i will ever repost a pic taken by abby that contains one of mills’ nipples. get a room you two.
