-fIREHOSE (from their 1986 released sst album ragin, full on)

now, you may know of the minutemen (jackass theme? that’s their song from 1984), but after the guit-lead/singer/main songwriter d. boon died in a van crash in ‘85, mike watt and ed hurley decided to end the band and then quickly met ed fROMOHIO (ed moved himself to san pedro, ca from ohio and pretty much tracked down watt to tell him that he wanted to keep that music going and that they weren’t done by a fucking longshot) and FUCK if they didn’t redefine the abilities of american punk just as much as fugazi branched out after minor threat.

so captain, if you have any doubts regarding their abilities, go listen to double nickels on the dime. next to workbook and margin walker this here legacy is as pure as you can get with american punk rock offshoots.
