ok, remember how i went to that shitty museum last weekend?
well HOLY FUCK.
went to the museum of arts and design (2 columbus cirlce) today and was totally blown away.
their collection of jewelry is fantastic (be sure to go through all the drawers).
their current and permanent exhibitions are also stunning (i’m sure you all have seen that sculpture of a wave -made out of vinyl records- floating around tumblr the last few days, it’s there right now. i will tell you that it is nowhere near the best work hidden up there). they have actual decent art that took the artists months and months (if not years) to create (not just “conceptulize”), and a beautiful ron arad chair, to boot. you remember this, that’s by him, too.
i would have paid thirty bucks for admission. and if you know me, that’s saying something. so go there this weekend, you’ll be impressed.
-especially if you love maple as much as i do (it’s my favorite wood; all the sculpture and furniture i made in art skool that contained wood contained some type of maple. it’s so varied and sexy). seriously, hard maple makes me … um …
yeah. go.
